Many know about Quantum battery packs, probably the leading third party option used professionally.

They can be used with many pro flash units across numerous brands, with the appropriate dedicated cables.

But slightly a surprise I must say, is the new MKZ7 cable.

It is designed to give Nikon SB-700 Speedlight users the benefits of faster recycling and increasing numbers of shots per battery recharge cycle, when used with compatible Quantum battery packs.

I say a surprise, as this is not by Nikon themselves regarded as a ‘pro’ flash unit, and therefore not normally in need of this type of optional extra.

But it is a pleasant surprise though as I really like the SB-700, and I think many have overlooked its capabilities, being overshadowed by flagship Speedlights in the Nikon range.

Here are the details:

FLAGHEAD PHOTOGRAPHIC, the exclusive UK & Ireland distributor for Quantum products, are pleased to announce the NEW Quantum MKZ7 cable for use with the Nikon SB700.

The MKZ7 connects the following Quantum batteries to the SB700: QB 1, QB 1+, Compact and Bantam. The black, coiled cable allows a maximum distance between battery and flash of approximately 7 feet.

The MKZ7 Cable for SB700 to QB1, QB1+, Bantam & QB1Compact has a suggested retail price of £59.40 and expected to go on sale early October.
